Lily Transportation Corp., a leading provider of Dedicated Logistics Systems, is proud to partner with The Roberto Clemente Foundation and Roberto’s Kids to provide transportation of donated baseball equipment for underprivileged children.

Each year around this time, Lily Transportation Corp. and its employees give of their time, equipment and resources to provide transportation of donated baseball equipment from regional collection centers throughout the country to an international shipping point in Miami, Florida. This year, Lily collected and transported equipment from both individuals and corporate contributors from nine collection hubs in seven states along the East Coast. Steve Pindar and his wife Lisa, the founders of Roberto’s Kids, estimate an average of 30 tons of equipment is donated each year.

Roberto’s Kids distributes new and gently worn baseball equipment collected from baseball leagues, charitable organizations, individuals and retailers in the United States and Canada to disadvantaged children in countries where baseball is loved and played with passion. This year’s collection will be distributed in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico as well other countries throughout the world, giving a lot of children opportunity to play a team sport with the proper equipment – something they may not have without this organization.

Roberto’s Kids is named in honor of Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente, who played eighteen seasons in Major League Baseball from 1955 to 1972, with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Clemente was involved in charitable work in Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries, often delivering baseball equipment and food to those less fortunate. He tragically died in a plane crash while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.

“Lily is honored to be associated with Roberto’s Kids and to have the opportunity to give back to those less fortunate” said Lily’s Executive Vice President, Jim Walker. “It’s exciting to see just how much the contributions grow from year to year and to know that there will be a lot smiles on a lot of young faces. We look forward to working with Steve Pindar and this fantastic organization again next year”.
