Arkansas’ dress rehearsal for the SEC is taking the Razorbacks to San Diego this week. Arkansas (10-1) opens a four-game series tonight at San Diego State (2-10), which is coached by Tony Gwynn, a Major League Baseball Hall of Fame member who enjoyed a stellar 20-year career with the San Diego Padres.

Indians’ Santana passes first test at 1B
Carlos Santana went 9 for 9 — not at bat, but at a new position and that made the Cleveland Indians happy. Santana played first base for the first time in a 9-2 loss to a San Diego Padres split squad on Wednesday. “I felt good,” Santana said after making seven putouts and two assists over six innings.
