Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 4, 2007
Cubscast, part of the Chicago Sportscast Network, is following the Chicago Cubs into the NLDS and (hopefully) beyond. After nearly three years and over 330 original episodes, the uniquely independent, on-demand sports show finally has a playoff team to celebrate.
The success of the team, and the loyal listeners of this unconventional internet radio show, have made Cubscast one of the most popular online sports shows around. For the month of September 2007, Cubscast has notched over 170,000 audio downloads, with free episodes available via iTunes or the Cubscast website (http://www.Cubscast.com)
The 30-minute Cubscast episodes are hosted by long time Cub fans Andrew Figgins, Matt Sheppo and Zach Baliva, who mix in their own brand of quirky humor with in-depth analysis, predictions, debates, contests, interviews and more all year round.
This week, the hosts welcome actor and comedian Jeff Garlin to celebrate Chicago’s playoff berth. In addition, Cubscast.com will host a live chat with the show’s hosts after Thursday, Oct 4th’s NLDS game. New episodes this month will also feature listener comments from the Cubscast hotline which can be reached at 312-239-0179.
Cubscast host Zach Baliva credits the success of the show with displaced baseball fans across the map, saying “Podcasts are great, because unlike regular sports radio, you can listen on-demand from anywhere in the world. We have listeners in Hong Kong, Antarctica, Germany and Australia. Seriously. There are even a few Cubs fans in more dangerous and unlikely places — like St. Louis.”
“In Piniella We Trustiella” was a phrase coined by the hosts at the beginning of the season, and it still rings true for fans across the globe. In fact, the popular shirt is flying off the shelves at the Cubscast store (http://cubscast.com/store).
