On July 11, 2006 the city of Pittsburgh, PA will once again serve as the host of the 77th annual 2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The renewed renaissance occurring in Pittsburgh has inspired corporations from across the nation to commit to spend top dollars to entertain their key clients and prospects in first class corporate hospitality settings, generating an immense amount of attention for Pittsburgh business. VisitPittsburgh estimates that Major League Baseball’s All-Star festivities, centered around the July 11 game at PNC Park, will bring $ 52.3 million into the region. The Hospitality Group, Worldwide (THG) always at the vanguard of premiere corporate sports hospitality, will host an exclusive gathering of nearly 150 of the most influential area executives invited as guests of 18 Fortune 500 corporations at the elite hospitality facilities located within the exclusive Omni William Penn Hotel, just a short distance from the spectacular PNC Park.

Some of the highlights of the corporate hospitality festivities taking place will be a Silver Service luncheon hosted by renowned former Pittsburgh Pirates’ 12-year MLB veteran, Sid Bream, who will serve as both the keynote speaker & host for the afternoon’s festivities at the Omni William Penn, prior to the All-Star Game. Also participating at the luncheon will be Jay Johnstone (20 year MLB veteran, including winner of the American League’s Rookie of the Year, 1966) as well as pitcher Bob Walk (11-year MLB veteran, of which 10 years were spent with the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organization).

The Steel City is proud to serve as the host for the Midsummer Classic for the fifth time, previously hosting it in 1994. The game itself will be played at the modern PNC Park, which was selected as the “best ballpark in the big leagues” by ESPN.com. “This ballpark,” said MLB Commissioner Allan H. “Bud” Selig, “is spectacular”. The city of Pittsburgh’s local officials plan to make the most of their time in the international spotlight, with as many as 200,000 people expected in Pittsburgh for the festivities around the All-Star Game next week. More than 100 million in total are expected to listen to radio talk shows on it, check in on the Internet or watch television coverage, according to Major League Baseball estimates.
