Question by Evan J: What happens 14 games from now for the Chicago Cubs?
My history teacher has made a little “game” if you will for us trying to figure out what this number means.

It goes down everyday, and it’s now at 14, and I know it has something to do with games, and the Chicago Cubs….

Does anybody know or have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Answer by Boston Believes!
It’s the Elimination number.
There are 18 games left in the season. Every time the Cubs win a game, this number goes down 1. Every time the Brewers lose a game, regardless of if the Cubs lost the game or not, the number goes down 1 more. When the number gets to 0, the Brewers are eliminated and the Cubs clinch the division. This number is the sum of Cubs’ wins and Brewers’ losses needed for the Cubs to clinch the division.
