Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 26, 2012

Apple.com’s video advertisement for the latest iPad features the highly-acclaimed children’s book app for Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy by renowned children’s author Tina Turbin. About 36 seconds into the video for the new iPad, a hearing impaired child is shown as he eagerly watches Turbin’s cutting-edge app, which offers sign language interpretation by none other than Carol Downing, whom Turbin hand picked for this App.

Carol Downing is the Associate Director at Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf in Clearwater Florida. Carol was an instructor in the Sign Language Interpretation Program at St. Petersburg College. She also was the Assistant Director of Admissions for Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C for nine years, where she earned her Masters degree in Administration/ Supervison. Carol brings with her an extensive knowledge of American Sign Language as well as a deep understanding of Deaf Culture. She is well known and respected in the Deaf community and has been a nationally certified interpreter for over 20 years.

“When iStorytime informed me that Apple’s new iPad ad featured Danny the Dragon, I could hardly believe it,” said Tina Turbin. “Once again, I am truly honored. Thank you Apple!”

Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy is the award-winning illustrated picture book telling the story of Danny the Dragon and his friendship with Jimmy after their most unusual meeting on a trip to the beach. The book has earned numerous rave reviews by critics and bloggers who praise the work for its positive messages of mutual kindness and family togetherness. The groundbreaking app, created by iStoryTime, the same app developer for How to Train Your Dragon, took the world by storm as the first app of its kind to offer sign language interpretation. After its release this app remained for weeks on Apple’s recommended list.

“It’s been such a pleasure working with iStoryTime who have been incredibly supportive and creative throughout the entire process.” Turbin said. “They have done a truly exceptional job. I just love working with them.”

Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy and its subsequently released DVD with sign interpretation and Danny the Dragon Dreams CD have won a number of highly-esteemed awards, including the prestigious Media of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine and Mom’s Choice Award. The book is also available for the world’s bestselling eReader, Amazon.com’s Kindle, and can be read on the iPad with the Kindle app.

According to marketing executives at Imagination Publishing Group (IPG), Turbin’s publisher which specializes in children’s literature, a series of translations of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy are soon to follow, not to mention future installments of the Danny the Dragon illustrated kids book series. These will also be made available for the iPhone and iPad as well.
