NFEC Awards Nest Egg the Best Practices in Financial Education Honor (Personal Finance Game Category)

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2012

Annually the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) presents its Best Practices in Financial Education Awards to recognize individuals and organizations that provide personal finance products or services aligned with the NFEC mission, educational philosophy, sustainable business model, and dedication to raising awareness about the financial literacy movement. This year’s award was presented to the Nest Egg money experience simulation game, recognizing Nest Egg’s contribution in the Personal Finance Game Category.

Organizations that are chosen to receive the Best Practices Award share common mission statements with the NFEC: to create a world where people are informed and able to make qualified financial decisions that improve their lives, the lives of those they love, and the lives of people they reach around the globe.

“The Nest Egg financial literacy game was selected as winner of our personal finance game category because it delivers practical personal finance education in a fun, engaging manner while delivering a life simulation of experiences the players will likely face as they mature,” states Vince Shorb, CMO of the NFEC.

“We at Nest Egg would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the dedicated financial literacy experts at the National Financial Educators Council for honoring our simulation with the 2012 Best Practices in Financial Education Award in the Personal Finance Game Category. The NFEC and Nest Egg share a common commitment to improving financial education. Both of our organizations appreciate that education is the first step, and the best answer, to uplift the financial future of the next generation of Americans,” states Doug Bernstein, National Sales Director of Nest Egg. “We believe that Nest Egg is an engaging, effective, and enjoyable tool for teaching finance, and we thank the NFEC for their support.”

Nest Egg has all the elements of a board game: strategy, paper money, dice, cards, and more. However, it is more than just a game; it’s an advanced simulation of real-world finance. The program is designed for anyone aged 13 and up, groups large or small. Nest Egg can be played by beginners, yet still challenges financial experts. The Nest Egg board game introduces players to a variety of financial instruments including credit cards, mortgages, insurance, stock and bond mutual funds, 401(k) s, and more. Players experience dramatic life events and unpredictable market fluctuations.

Nest Egg is the brainchild of a close partnership between a university professor; a Dave Ramsey-trained financial counselor; and a lifelong professional educator. The game represents a culmination of decades of classroom experience teaching personal finance. Nest Egg was created to teach students personal finance through experience, allowing them to experience both successes and failures within the safe confines of a board game. Nest Egg helps players improve money skills while having fun. Developed, tested, and refined over the last eight years, Nest Egg has been played in classrooms all across America.

The NFEC is a social enterprise organization whose stated mission is to improve financial capability among the world’s citizens. Through collaborative efforts with leaders in the financial education field, the NFEC also aims to increase access to products and services that represent best practices in financial education. The NFEC chose the Nest Egg money experience simulation game to receive the Best Practices in Financial Education Award in the Personal Finance Game category.
