Marriott ‘Tees Off’ to Help Fund Children’s Miracle Network

Toronto (Vocus) May 26, 2010

On Thursday, May 27th, the Toronto Marriott family of hotels will host the annual Teeing Off for Kids! Charity Tournament in support of Children’s Miracle Network. This year marks the eighth-consecutive sponsorship of the event by Marriott Hotels & Resorts of Canada, which has resulted in over $ 200,000 raised for the charity to fund research at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. This year’s tournament will take place at Lionhead Golf & Country Club in Brampton, Ontario.

“Marriott is committed to supporting the Children’s Miracle Network to help provide funding for SickKids,” says Scott Allison, Vice President, Sales & Marketing for Marriott Hotels & Resorts of Canada. “We commend SickKids and the Children’s Miracle Network for their work in treating sick children around the world and are honoured to provide funding each year through Teeing Off for Kids.”

Registered participants will have the opportunity to bid on a selection of items from sponsors, including several overnight accommodation packages at various Marriott properties across Canada, an autographed Toronto Maple Leafs hockey jersey, and an autographed Toronto Raptors basketball jersey. In addition to the wide selection of silent auction items, there will also be live auction items, including a trip for two to Chicago, courtesy of Porter Airlines; a two-night stay at any Marriott location in Canada including two roundtrip first class VIA Rail tickets for the Windsor-Quebec City Corridor, courtesy of VIA Rail and Marriott Hotels & Resorts of Canada; and a Skybox rental during a Blue Jays Game, plus a $ 1,000 food credit, courtesy of the Renaissance Toronto Downtown Hotel.

During the 2009 Teeing Off for Kids! Charity Tournament, Marriott helped Children’s Miracle Network raise approximately $ 30,000 in much-needed funding for research at SickKids through the SickKids Foundation. Marriott has set a goal to raise $ 33,000 for this year’s tournament through donations, live and silent auctions and 50/50 draws throughout the tournament.
