Mac Support Provider Chesapeake Systems Relocates Headquarters to Historic Baltimore Church

On September 21, 2011, Chesapeake Systems, the Baltimore-Washington region’s leading provider of Mac support and service, will celebrate the culmination of its remarkable renovation of the lightning and fire damaged former Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, a historic landmark in the City’s Hampden neighborhood, as the headquarters for its multi-million dollar technology business.

The celebration of the completed renovation of the Church and grand opening of Chesapeake Systems new offices will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., at 801 West 33rd Street (corner of Chestnut Avenue and 33rd Street).

In 2010, Chesapeake Systems, then based at Hampden’s Mill Centre, received City zoning approval and completed purchase of the Church. In early 2011, the company began a fast-paced restoration of the revered landmark, which opened in 1879 to serve workers at the nearby mills, and which remained home to an active congregation until lightning and fire caused extensive damage to the church and its steeple in 2008. Today, the Church stands transformed.

Highlights of the transformation include the restoration of many of the Church’s distinctive architectural features including stone walls, chestnut beams, and stained glass windows. Chesapeake Systems also installed hickory floors and commissioned a new, specially designed stained glass window for the Chestnut Avenue side of the building.

The 9,000 square foot Church gives Chesapeake Systems additional space and new opportunities to expand services, support, and training for its regional, national, and international customers, which range from college students and professional graphic designers to major universities, nonprofits, government agencies and the local and national video and broadcast industry. Current clients range from the Baltimore Orioles to Disney affiliates and the BBC.

In addition to providing a venue for an increased number of workshops on Mac based programs, including the recently released Final Cut Pro X, Chesapeake Systems’ new headquarters will include the company’s first retail center.
