2011 Summer Lacrosse League, Camps & Clinics announced and registration is open!


This years camps include the Salve Regina University~Bridge Lacrosse Camp. This is a high school men’s recruiting camp for day and overnight campers on the historical campus of Salve Regina University.

Endless Summer Camp, a new non-sport specific kids camp. Explore all that our island has to offer! This place based camp will enrich campers with eco-education, surfing, art in nature, coastal exploration and more…

Beach Dogs Lacrosse Camp

Players and Coaches from the Iroquois National Lacrosse Team will be joining us again in 2011.

Camp Details

Beach Dogs Lacrosse Camp will run from 9am to 1pm for 1st & 2nd grades and 9am to 3pm for all older groups at the Seveney Fields (Glen Farm/Polo grounds) in Portsmouth, RI.

Prepare to dig deep into the history of the “oldest team sport in America” with visiting coaches from the Iroquois National Lacrosse Program in addition to a stellar group of coaching talent from all over the US. Camp days will be a comfortable mix of skills, drills, strength, endurance and above all, fun!

Each camper will receive the coveted Beachdogs shorts and jersey along with other cool give-aways.

Fee includes camp 5 days a week with lunch option upon registration.

Camps are for boys and girls grades 2 and up~

Island Lacrosse Summer League

June 15 – August 18th.

Portsmouth, RI

Youth League – Boys Grades 3-8 – Monday Evenings

Mondays – 5pm – 6:30pm

Designed for up and coming third graders to up and coming 8th graders

Sessions are broken out into 30 minutes of instruction and 60 minutes controlled scrimmage.

Divisions will be divided into grades 3-5 and grades 6-8

Limited number of opening – first come first serve

Women’s Summer League – Thursday Evenings

This registration is for all women’s lacrosse players – it will be broken into two divisions

1. high school – rising freshmen to rising seniors.

2. open division – rising college freshmen and up – no age limit ~ the older you get the better you were!

Play will be on Thursday evenings

Starting June 16 to August 18

Men’s Summer League – Wednesday Evenings

This registration is for all men’s lacrosse players; it will be broken into two divisions

1. high school – rising freshmen to rising seniors.

2. open division – rising college freshmen and up – no age limit ~ the older you get the better you were!

Play will be on Wednesday evenings

Games take place in Portsmouth RI – at the Glen – 717 East Main Road in Portsmouth, RI

Bridge Lacrosse Camp at Salve Regina University ~ July 5 – 9, 2011 ~ Overnight & Day Camp

Build the bridge from high school to college through the great sport of lacrosse.

There are:

59 Division I, 34 Division II, 156 Divisions III and over 200 club men’s teams where you could end up.

Only between 10% & 13% of the Division I & II program players receive partial or full scholarships.

Who?

Open to men high school lacrosse players, up & coming 9th graders thru 12 grade.

Where?

Players staying for the overnight camp will be housed at Salve Regina University in beautiful Newport Rhode Island.

Lacrosse will take place at the SRU state-of-the-art turf facility in Middletown, RI, just 5 minutes away.

Why?

It is vital players understand their capabilities, strengths & weaknesses, and full potential. Bridge Lacrosse is about creating an environment where players get unbiased feedback based on their lacrosse skills, athletic potential and what they want from the sport while increasing indevidual and team play skill.

Not only will players lacrosse skills be assessed, all participants will have the ability to be ranked thru the National Epic Rating System.

I. Aloha Campers – Ages 4-7

II. Kahuna Campers – Ages 8-11

III. Mahalo Campers – Ages 12-15

Week 2 – July 5 – July 8

Week 3 – July 11 – July 15

Week 4 – July 18 – July 22

Week 5 – July 25 – July 29

Week 6 – August 1 – August 5

Week 7 – August 8 – August 12

Week 8 – August 15 – August 19

Activities

Below is a sampling of activities. Weekly sessions will provide a diverse selection of activities that utilizes the surroundings around us, land and ocean. While summer is a break from school, Endless Summer Camp will be filled with activities that exercise the body and mind. Summer is still a time for learning but most importantly fun.

Activities focus on three main areas

1. Ocean Surf Adventures

Surf, Standup Paddle Board & Kayak – Learn about and from the ocean, hands on experience in a save and fun environment. The goal to teach kids about the ocean, safety.Learn standup paddle board and kayak techniques, junior lifeguard and first aid.

2. Stay Active & Exercise/Diet

Activities will involve exercise and focus on a healthy lifestyle.

3. Marine Biology, Science and the Environment

Utilize the natural classrooms in our area and involve students in nature and causes and effects humans have on the environment.
