Piggy Bank Bash for the Berry Kids: Fundraiser to Help Two Boys Paralyzed in Accident
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 19, 2011
On July 3, 2011, a tragic car accident changed one family forever. Robin and Joshua Berry were killed in a head-on collision when an automobile veered into their lane as they traveled home to Houston from a family vacation in Colorado. Two of their children, 9-year-old Peter and 8-year-old Aaron, suffered spinal injuries in the accident and are paralyzed from the waist down. Willa, the Berry’s 6-year old daughter is recovering from a broken arm and leg.
News of this accident quickly traveled through the Houston community, across the nation, and around the world. The Berrys, Josh, Matt and their youngest brother, Adam, grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from Clear Lake High school. A group of local friends and graduates are responding to the family’s need by hosting a very special fundraiser-Piggy Bank Bash for the Berry Kids.
Scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 12:00 to 5:00 at the Perry YMCA, located at 1700 League City Parkway West in League City, Texas, the fundraiser benefits the Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust.
According to fundraising committee member Angie Bailey, “The community has been incredibly generous. I can’t tell you how many times I have received a call from a sponsor or opened an email from a donor that brought tears to my eyes. The support for this function has been no less than amazing- truly amazing.”
A family affair, the Piggy Bank Bash has events planned for both adults and children. Food sponsors Freebirds, Chic-Fil-A, James Coney Island, Gio’s, Russo’s and Papa John’s are prepared to feed the huge crowds expected.
A rock climbing wall, bounce houses, obstacle course, petting zoo, pony rides, hamster balls, a video game trailer, photo booth, fire truck and mechanical bull, include some of the planned activities. Performances by a magician, mad scientist, an 80s band and visits with Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Sponge Bob, Phineas and Ferb, Dora and Diego, Fancy Nancy and various Princesses will occur throughout the event.
Rising Nashville star, Payton Rae, will also bring her blend of pure country and Texas charm to the fundraiser with a performance at 1:30 followed by a Meet and Greet, while a live auction at 2:00 includes the opportunity to bid on a Carnival cruise.
Bailey continued, “I hope that the guests feel the love that went into planning this event. I invite everyone to join us at the Piggy Bank Bash to support the Berry Kids Trust. The Berrys need us.”
