New Miami Restaurant From 23-Year-Old Entrepreneur and Accomplished Chef Opens
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) August 8, 2007 – Chef Adrianne Calvo, a 23-year-
old entrepreneur and author of the cookbook Maximum Flavor, announces the launch of her new Miami restaurant, Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar. On the menu are favorites of the superstars she has cooked for, including John Travolta, Major League Baseball players, Will Smith and more. But don’t be surprised: she changes the menu at least once a month to spice things up.
Controversial is the word being used to describe this Miami restaurant. Some reviews have called it incredible, some have called it a waste. It seems quite unbelievable that a 23-year-old would take on such an endeavor and this has stirred the minds of critics everywhere. While the food has been labeled by its loyal customers as “exceptional”, “passionate” and “best meal I’ve ever had”, critics are downplaying the chef’s talent and ability to run her business at such a young age. If public opinions weren’t enough controversy, Chef Adrianne opened this upscale eatery, reminiscent of Napa Valley, in the suburbs of Miami. She did not open in the chic areas such as downtown, the beach or the Grove. Still, she manages to hold lines for at least 45 minutes on a Friday night — all this with no advertising, whatsoever. What keeps this entrepreneur afloat is her remarkable food — an asset most restaurants have forgotten about. Every single item on the Miami restaurant’s menu is made to order and made fresh. Each and every sauce, marinade, dessert, etc., is made in-house with no shortcuts. In today’s age, restaurants are cutting corners and boosting advertising to make people flock in for fake food.
About the Chef
Adrianne Marie Calvo, entrepreneur, author of the cookbook Maximum Flavor and CEO of Terra Dolci Corporation, was born in Chicago, Illinois, and then moved to Miami, Florida. Adrianne began her culinary business ventures at the age of 12 by baking chocolate chip cookies and selling them at school. Her business took off as she was making $ 200/weekly selling cookies … until she was caught. By the age of 16, Adrianne was voted one of the top 10 up-and-coming chefs in the state of Florida and was the youngest president of FCCLA. At 17, she was voted one of the top 10 up-and-coming chefs in the United States. That year, Adrianne competed in a National Pastry Competition held by Johnson and Wales University and got the Bronze without any formal training.
Ranking top of the class since she stepped foot at Johnson and Wales University, Adrianne continued to compete, but now it was internationally. Trained by a Certified German Master Chef she won Taste Down Under (2003), an Australian Culinary Competition that took her career to the next level. Her critically acclaimed dish would be the star of a dinner at the United Nations and for its ambassadors. In 2004, she won again, and this time, the dinner would be for the ambassadors and for CNN correspondents, Gourmet Magazine, Food Network, Savuer, Bon Apetit and representatives from the James Beard house. Adrianne also catered the 2003 World Series for the champion Florida Marlins, making her the youngest to cater that large of an event. In addition, the young chef received the National Grand Prize for “Search for the Seasoned Chef.” On her own, she decided to learn the cuisine of California’s Wine Country alongside Chef Thomas Keller.
When Adrianne returned to Miami, she worked for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, making her the youngest chef to work at a five-diamond property. At the age of 20, Adrianne decided to write Maximum Flavor, a collection of her favorite recipes from her winning competitions to the favorites of celebrities she cooked for such as John Travolta, Will Smith and Diddy.
In November 2005, Adrianne launched the book at Maximum Flavor Live, a live cooking show on a waterfront stage she produced and directed herself. There was music, dancing and her signature tasting. At the event, the entrepreneur simultaneously launched her culinary product line — Maximum Flavor Essentials.
Chef Adrianne has been called “a phenomenon” on national radio WABC and WOR. She has been on FOX Network, ABC, Univision, the Montel Williams show and is now a regular on NBC.
The year 2006 also marked a hardship for Adrianne. She lost her younger sister to a very rare cancer. Thus she began “Young Chefs Cooking for a Cure” and partnered with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Adrianne’s mission is to motivate America to do great things. Cooking is a tool that reaches people. It is the means by which she created a successful business. She believes if she did it, you can too. At Adrianne’s public events, audiences dance, cry, laugh and above all, leave with a mission. They leave with a purpose.
