‘Home Plate’ Cookbook Celebrating Ballpark Dishes, a Guaranteed Hit for Father’s Day
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) June 6, 2008
It’s the bottom of the ninth and you need both a gift and a special meal for dad on Father’s Day. With a stacked roster of recipes, “Home Plate: From Hot Dogs to Haute Cuisine” is a cookbook that can help you hit a grand slam.
New for this baseball season, “Home Plate” gives fathers their first opportunity to create and savor favorite stadium, arena and ballpark dishes from across the United States in their own home and off the grill.
The 163-page special edition cookbook from Delaware North Companies’ Sportservice division features more than 70 recipes, short profiles of the venues and home teams, and mouth-watering, full-color photography that makes it a natural for the coffee table.
“Most fathers love sports and food, and this cookbook celebrates both in a unique way,” said Sportservice Corporate Chef Rolf Baumann, who oversees the company’s chefs and menus at Chicago’s Soldier Field, St. Louis’ Busch Stadium and more than 50 other sports venues.
Baumann took part in every step of the cookbook’s development, from selecting the recipes to testing them to ensure they could be created at home. They run the gambit from hot dogs and other traditional ballpark fare, to regional favorites such as Toasted Ravioli from St. Louis to contemporary dishes such as Bock Beer Poached Shrimp from TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.
Among the other recipes:
Fried cookie dough from the Cincinnati Reds’ Great American Ball Park.
Buffalo-Style Chicken Wings from the Buffalo Sabres’ HSBC Arena.
Monster of the Midway Chili from the Chicago Bears’ Soldier Field.
Eggplant Rollatini from the Detroit Tigers’ Comerica Park.
The Cleveland Bomber roast beef tortilla from the Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field.
Fish Tacos from the San Diego Padres’ PETCO Park.
Also included is the famous Stadium Bratwurst from Milwaukee’s Miller Park. The “brat” is slathered in Secret Stadium Sauce, which was invented by Sportservice President Rick Abramson when he worked at County Stadium in the 1970s. It’s a favorite of NBC’s Bob Costas.
The cookbook can be ordered at Shop Delaware North and shipped in time for Father’s Day. Cost is $ 50 plus shipping. Also available is Delaware North’s first cookbook, “Pathways to Plate,” developed by Master Chef Roland Henin to celebrate dishes at the company’s parks and resorts locations such as The Ahwahnee at Yosemite National Park.
“Home Plate” is also available in select Sportservice ballpark, stadium and arena retail stores.
