To celebrate Tony Gwynn being inducted into the Hall of Fame, the San Diego Padres had this statue erected outside Petco Park on July 21st, 2007. It is 9.5 feet tall and weighs 1,200 pounds. Here is a video of the unveiling:

In his career, Tony Gwynn struck out only 434 times in 9,288 career at-bats, and never batted below .309 in any full season, although he hit .289 in his rookie season.
He played his entire career with one team, a rarity in any era, and is considered by many to be the best player to ever wear a Padres jersey.
