Question by Austin: Are the Florida Marlins considered a top contender for the World Series in the next few years?

I wouldn’t think so. They’ve still not got a great pitching rotation and their bullpen and closing roles are very inconsistent. Lindstrom got into so many tough situations last year and couldn’t close games. In one of the games I believe so, he let out seven earned runs in the ninth inning. That’s not going to get your team anywhere.

If the Marlins are going to be top contenders, they’ll have to really get a solid closer, improve their starting rotation, and add a couple of key bats in the lineup to help Hanley Ramirez through it. Jorge Cantu is very inconsistent that got into a homerun slump in the middle of the season last year, so they’ll need to step up someone who can really bring some consistency to them at all times.
