This photo of Strasburg’s first major league pitch was selected for the cover of the 2011 Bill James Handbook, arguably the best and most complete baseball guide published annually. After they bought the photo, Strasburg tore his ulnar collateral ligament and underwent Tommy John surgery, ensuring he would not open the 2011 season, thus the photo was replaced with a photo of league MVP Joey Votto.
