Local Business Leaders raise $ 30,000 to provide health care for uninsured at the Maggie and Bob Allesee VNA Classic Golf Scramble

Representatives from two dozen southeast Michigan businesses showed their support for home health care and hospice services for the uninsured served by Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan. More than 120 individuals from companies including Comerica, General Motors, Plante and Moran, LLP and Sprint participated in the Maggie and Bob Allesee VNA Classic Golf Scramble on June 21, 2004, at Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield which raised approximately $ 30,000 for southeast MichiganÂÂs leading nonprofit home health care and hospice organization.
ÂÂAnnually, VNA of Southeast Michigan incurs more than $ 1 million in health care costs for which we receive no compensation,ÂÂ said Kathleen Holycross. ÂÂWe are committed to providing health care to all members of the community regardless of their ability to pay. The support of so many local organizations is greatly appreciated.ÂÂ
Former Detroit TigersÂÂ Pitcher Dave Rozema emceed the evening awards presentation ceremony that culminated in three individuals winning tickets to the coveted Ryder Cup this fall. David Thoms from West Bloomfield, Karen OÂÂDonoghue from Grosse Pointe Woods and Judy Hurford from Grosse Pointe Farms won tickets to the Ryder Cup matches.
VNAÂÂs 2004 Corporate Partners, who were instrumental in making the event happen, included Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; Complete Infusion Services; HAP; The Observer and Eccentric Newspapers; Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone PLC; and Standard Federal Bank.
Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan is the stateÂÂs largest independent nonprofit home health care and hospice organization serving residents of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Monroe counties.
