Question by trer: Have the San Diego Padres already quit for next season?
They’ve traded Adrian Gonzalez, their best hitter, clubhouse leader and possibly best player for prospects. They were so close to the playoffs, it would seem to me that they just needed to open up the checking account a little bit and get that one last piece they needed to get over the hump. But instead they look like they’re back to re-building mode again. Why?

Bluntly, the Padres have money issues. They were 11th out of 16 in attendance last year, and are getting squeezed by the two LA teams for TV dollars.
