Remembering the Valiant Who Battled Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Calabasas Hills, Calif. (Vocus) May 15, 2007

The national World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., provided the setting for the 4th annual Candlelight Vigil at the kickoff of this year’s National ALS Advocacy Day and Public Policy Conference , May 14-16, sponsored by The ALS Association. Studies have confirmed that military veterans with ALS are twice as likely as the general public of being diagnosed with the disease.

The National ALS Advocacy Day and Public Policy Conference, now in its 10th year, has grown to be the single largest gathering of the ALS community and is an opportunity for the entire populace – people with ALS, families, caregivers, physicians and researchers – to come together and urge members of Congress to join in the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

For more information, call Gary Wosk, manager, media relations, The ALS Association, at (818) 587-2241, http://www.alsa.org or at gwosk @ alsa-national.org.
