The National Association of Minority Contractors of Washington (NAMC) and Congressman Bennie Thompson will Address Issues of Minority Contracting in ‘Rebuilding the Gulf Region’

The National Association of Minority Contractors Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter will present a reception and business briefing with Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D- District of Columbia), Willie Nelson (Vice President, National Association of Minority Contractors Washington DC, Metropolitan Area Chapter (NAMC-WMAC), the District of Columbia Democratic State Committee (DCDSC), fellow Democrats, elected officials, representatives from national and local minority businesses and trade organizations.
This Business Briefing and Reception will focus on “Rebuilding The Gulf Region”, with a discussion regarding the involvement of local and minority businesses in the Hurricane Recovery Efforts. Award Presentations will be made to Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) and Willie Nelson (Vice-President, NAMC Southern Region) on behalf of minority contractors and the Democratic Party.
The event will take place on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 (6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)at The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill (Thornton Room)located at 400 New Jersey Avenue, NW in Washington, DC 20001
During NAMCâs Board of Directorâs meeting on September 23, 2005, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), a ranking member on the Committee on Homeland Security, presented an overview of his efforts to coordinate the involvement of local and minority businesses in the Hurricane Katrina Recovery Efforts in Mississippi. As a result a relationship was forged with NAMC to assist with identifying, recruiting and coordinating the participation of minority contractors to rebuild the Gulf Region. Congressman Thompson (D-MS) and Willie Nelson (NAMC) will provide an update on âDoing Business in the Gulf Region” during the business briefing.
