Pirates Streak Snapped With 2-0 Loss To Tigers
After a season high four-game winning streak, the Pirates had the opportunity to make it five in a row as well as a chance to get back to that .500 mark Sunday afternoon over at PNC Park. The pitching was again solid, but Paul Maholm continues to be the victim of no run support when he takes the mound as the Bucs fell to the Detroit Tigers 2-0.

The Detroit Tigers still aren’t scoring much. For one afternoon, Rick Porcello made sure it didn’t matter. The 22-year-old right-hander shut down the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, allowing just one hit over eight innings as the Tigers ended a five-game losing streak with a 2-0 win. “He kept the ball on the ground pretty good,” Detroit manager Jim Leyland said.
