(Vocus) July 6, 2009

Buffalo Bills running back, Dominic Rhodes, and his Rhodes to Success Foundation launch The Great Shoe Bailout. Beginning July 10, 2009, Rhodes to Success Great Shoe Bailout will begin giving away nearly 600 Champs Sports® Gift Cards over the next several months to kids toward the purchase of a pair of new shoes for back to school. On Monday, July 6, Rhodes’ will appear on several ESPN networks discussing his new initiative including First Take on ESPN 2 and The Colin Cowherd Show on ESPN Radio.

In Virginia, Rhodes to Success Foundation will partner with The Way of the Cross at The Hampton Roads Youth Foundation’s 13th Annual Peninsula All-Star Football Camp (http://www.hryf.org). On Friday, July 10 in Hampton, VA, 200 campers will receive Champs Sports® Gift Cards courtesy of Dominic Rhodes. Champs Sports™, one of the largest sports-specialty, mall-based athletic retailers in North America, provides the latest hook-ups of footwear, apparel and accessories to the sports inspired customer.

Over the next few months, Rhodes to Success Great Shoe Bailout will make stops in Dominic Rhodes’ home state of Texas and team city, Buffalo, hosting private meet and greets for youth at local Champs Sports® retail locations. Additional pro athlete partners and corporations are encouraged to lend their support.

“My own childhood story as a kid in a single family home where my mom could not afford new shoes for me and my siblings to go back to school left an undeniable impression upon me,” states Rhodes. “Now that I am in a position to be a ‘Giver’, I believe it is my duty to bless other children. In some small way, I hope I am assisting families during these tough economic times helping to take one less purchase off of their shoulders. I appreciate Pastor Chris Hines and The Way of the Cross for sharing my vision in helping our youth. I look forward to having other companies, community leaders and pro athletes to partner with me in Dallas and Buffalo with the hopes of adding more cities in 2010.”

Rhodes, a nine year NFL veteran, signed with the Buffalo Bills in April 2009. He won a Super Bowl Championship with the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI. Prior to signing with the Bills, Rhodes played with the Oakland Raiders.

A total of 600 kids will be recipients of Rhodes to Success Great Shoe Bailout. For more information visit: http://www.dominicrhodes.net
