Question by r4: Why are the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres playing an exhibition game today?
I’ve never heard of an exhibition game in the middle of a season. They just finished playing in Toronto on Sunday. Tuesday they will be in Tampa Bay. Chicago is kind of in the middle, but why play an exhibition game in the middle of the season. Will they play the starters? Will they use all their regular pitchers?

It’s the Hall of Fame game.
Most regulars will get the day off. Maybe the everyday fielders will get an at-bat or two. It’s the final one. I’ve never understood why it’s in the middle of the season.
