Professional Sports Family Launches A New Sports-Oriented Social Networking Site

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) November 19, 2009

LockerSpace is an epic, sports oriented video sharing community for the Athletically Social. The site features an enterprise level video player which allows users to watch and upload high-quality videos. The site also features the ability to “follow” other users. The follow feature allows users to track the updates and video uploads of their friends, favorite teams, athletes, schools, and brands.

The creators of the site are a mother/son dream team. Maureen Kerley and Ty Thomasson have been around sports for much of their lives. Maureen, who was married to a retired Yankee, has been socializing with sports group for much of her adult life. Ty’s father, Gary Thomasson, played baseball in the Major Leagues from 1972 to 1980 and internationally from 1981 to 1982. He played for the San Fransisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers here in the states before playing for a famous Japanese team, the Yomiuri Giants. Gary Thomasson was part of the Yankees squad that won the World Series in 1978. Needless to say, Ty grew up around sports and quickly developed a passion for the Athletically Social.

The idea for LockerSpace came to Ty and Maureen when they were going through Ty’s old highlight videos from football. “We wanted to find somewhere on the internet, similar to all of the existing social networking sites, that encouraged athletes to share their stories. From there, we started brainstorming and found our niche,” says Maureen.

So what makes LockerSpace special? “Athletically Social is a term we came up with to refer to athletic people that want to connect and compete with other likeminded individuals on and off the field. On other social networking sites, these people are often lost in the crowd or limited to finding each other through limited group features. This is not the case with LockerSpace,” says Ty. “LockerSpace is a resource and community built specifically for the athlete to connect to, share with, and improve alongside other athletes, regardless of the sport or skill level.” To find out more, visit http://www.lockerspace.com and set up a profile to start interacting with some of the first users of the Athletically Social community.
