In 2003, the Expos finished within a few games back of the Florida Marlins in the Wildcard chase. The Marlins eventually won the World Series. Well, alot of people thought that the Expos were the better team, and deserved to win the wildcard that year. However, 2 major reasons kept them from winning that spot; First, they had to play “home games” in Puerto Rico, where the crowd cheered for them as much as the visiting team, and second, the fact that they could’nt call up anyone from Triple-A, due to Mr Selig, AKA “Bud”, stating that it would exceed the team’s payroll.
