Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 25, 2005
Boston Red Sox pitcher Bronson Arroyo drives in a highly impressive musical debut with his Asylum Records release, “Covering the Bases.”
The CD debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Heatseeker’s chart, monitoring top new artists, and hit #123 on the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, “Covering the Bases” has peaked at #6 on Amazon.com, grouped in with such artists as Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Green Day and Black Eyed Peas, and is the #1 selling CD in Boston, Providence and Springfield, MA and #2 selling CD in Portland, ME.
ÂÂIt’s exciting to have such a positive response to the album,ÂÂ says Arroyo. ÂÂThroughout the process of recording ‘Covering the Bases,’ I only hoped that the fans would enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.ÂÂ
ÂÂCongratulations to Bronson for the huge success of his debut album,ÂÂ says John Esposito, President and CEO of WEA Corp. ÂÂWEA is thrilled at the first week response to ‘Covering The Bases’ and we look forward to working with Bronson on his future music projects.ÂÂ
Arroyo’s debut pays tribute to his favorite artists and songs of the 90’s including Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains among others, and features an All-Star line up of backing musicians and special guests, including Mike Inez (Alice In Chains, Ozzy) and novelist Stephen King, along with respected session players Kenny Aronoff (Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge), Tim Pierce (Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen), Leland Sklar (James Taylor, Jackson Browne) and Mike Landau (Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt), and Arroyo’s Red Sox World Series co-champs ÂÂ Johnny Damon, Kevin Youkilis, Lenny DiNardo and even Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein. The project was produced by Loren Harriet (Bernie Williams).
Arroyo, who recently sold out Boston’s Avalon for a highly electrifying performance of “Covering the Bases” in its entirety, is gaining critical acclaim across the board. The Boston Globe’s Steve Morse notes that what could have been perceived as a vanity project has ended up becoming a rewarding listening experience with Arroyo’s impressive and soulful baritone vocal.
A live music DVD of Arroyo’s Avalon performance, which includes select members of his All-Star band and a finale appearance by Red Sox buddies Damon, Youkilis and DiNardo, along with special behind-the-scenes footage of the recording process, will be released this year through WEA.
