The great team New York Yankees, enter the second half of the 2010 MLB season with the best record in the league and to much to complain about other than the inconsistent bullpen. During the first half the Yankees received the usual production from players like CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte , Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Jorge Posada. They also got some surprise performances from guys like Nick Swisher and Brett Gardner. The Great World Series champion Yankees set the pace with a 56-32 record and have little time to mourn Tuesday’s loss of owner George Steinbrenner as AL East rivals Tampa Bay are coming to the Bronx for a three-game series this week. This was really a pretty astonishing day in baseball, not because of anything that happened on the field, but because the Yankees did not get Cliff Lee. The great Yankees almost always get what they want when they want it. They didn’t get their man Friday. Man bites dog. The New York Yankees blew two leads and one save, and had three runners thrown out at home plate two on back-to-back plays in the fifth inning in Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
