San Diego Padres Announce “2010 Grand Hyatt Grand Slam” Promotion, Sponsored by the Waterfront Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego

La Jolla, CA (PRWEB) April 13, 2010

San Diego Waterfront – A San Diego Padres 2010 promotion will have fans saving up to $ 5,000 on food, drink, guest rooms, spa treatments, fitness club memberships, weddings and most everything else available at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. It’s part of the “2010 Grand Hyatt Grand Slam,” a promotion that rewards Padres fans with 50 percent off expenditures of up to $ 10,000 at the waterfront Hyatt when they present a ticket from a home game won by the Padres with either a walk-off home run or a grand slam. Fans will save 30 percent at the Hyatt when they present a ticket from any victorious Padres home game and 10 percent when they present a ticket from any home-game lost by the Padres.

A walk-off home run is a home run that ends the game because it gives the home team the lead in the bottom of the final inning of the game (and consequently, the win) —either the ninth inning, or any extra inning, or any other regularly scheduled final inning. Because the teams walk off the field immediately afterward, it is called a “walk-off” home run. A grand slam is a home run hit when all three bases are occupied.

Padres fans can visit GrandHyattGrandSlam.com for more information and to register to win a Grand Hyatt Grand Slam Weekend: a two night stay in a premium-view guestroom at Manchester Grand Hyatt, breakfast for two adults each day at Lael’s Restaurant, one 60-minute couple’s massage at Kin Spa and a Padres promotional gift package. Hyatt will do three drawings this season.

Within walking distance of PETCO Park, the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is located on the Gaslamp Quarter’s waterfront. It is the city’s largest hotel and it includes Redfield’s Sports Bar, Top of the Hyatt sky lounge, The Grand Lobby Bar, Sally’s Seafood on the Water, Lael’s restaurant, Redfield’s Deli, Ann Marie’s Coffee House, Kin Spa (with a full service salon) and the Eldredge Fitness Center. The Hyatt will extend these discounts for qualified Padres tickets beginning the day after a ticket’s game-date and carrying through to December 30, 2010.

“The entire team at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is excited and proud to be partnering with the San Diego Padres, our downtown neighbors,” noted the hotel’s General Manager, Ted Kanatas. “The Grand Hyatt Grand Slam Derby provides savings for Padres fans in every area of the hotel, from Kin Spa to Sally’s Seafood on the Water, and much more.”

An example of big savings would be $ 5,000 on a wedding, explained the hotel’s Marketing Director, Kelly Commerford. “When the Padres win by a walk-off homer, or a Padre hits a grand slam, every ticket holder at that game has 50 percent discount on drinks, meals, rooms –or a wedding too –up to $ 5,000 off a $ 10,000 bill.”

Commerford noted that the hotel staff has created internal scoreboards to stay abreast of the Padres latest home runs and to be fully prepared to welcome celebrating Padres fans throughout the Hyatt.

Early indicators are that Padres fans will be enthusiastic about the Grand Hyatt Grand Slam and the Padres other 2010 promotions. At February’s Padres 2010 FanFest in PETCO Park, a record 12,000 fans turned out, greatly surpassing the previous one-day FanFest record of 7,000.

According to the Society for American Baseball Research, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Frank Robinson and Babe Ruth hold the Major League Baseball career record for walk-off home runs with 12. Major League Baseball’s career grand slam leader is Lou Gehrig (23), followed by Manny Ramírez (21).
