Based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States – The Atlanta Braves are a professional baseball team formed in 1870 and was originally called as the Boston Red Stockings. The team is a member of Major League Baseball’s National Team (Eastern Division). In 1871, the team emerged as one of the National League’s nine charter members.
It has been regarded as the team that is constant in the field because out of twenty eight teams, only the Braves has managed to field a team in every season Major League Baseball has been.
To identify themselves from the American League’s Cincinnati Red Stockings, the Boston Red Stockings (who became the Boston Red Caps in 1876) changed their name into Beaneaters in 1883. Media came up with nicknames such as Doves (1907) and Rustlers (1911); the team became the Braves in 1912 for the first time. The name of the team changed to Boston Bees on 1936, and in 1941 they reemerged as Boston Braves. In 1953, they became the Milwaukee Braves, and finally in 1966 the baseball team became known as the Atlanta Braves.
