Nationals Park, located along the Anacostia River in the Navy Yard neighborhood, replaced RFK Stadium as the home for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball in 2008. The ballpark, designed by Populous (formerly HOK Sport) and Devrouax & Purnell Architects and Planners, seats 41,888 fans and cost 1 million to build. The park’s name echoes the original name of the early-1900s
ballpark used by the Washington Senators/Nationals, which was called National Park until it was rebuilt and renamed Griffith Stadium.
